Join us as we enter the studio of award-winning graphic novelist duo Bryan and Mary Talbot

In this specially commissioned film, Mary and Bryan talk about their collaborative process and show us where and how they work.

Dr Mary Talbot is the author of the graphic novel Dotter of her Father’s Eyes (Jonathan Cape 2012), illustrated by her husband, award winning comic artist Bryan Talbot. She is an internationally acclaimed scholar who has published widely on language, gender and power, particularly in relation to media and consumer culture. Dotter was the first work she undertook in the graphic novel format. It went on to win the 2012 Costa Biography Award in January 2013, making it the only British graphic novel to win a major literary award.

Bryan Talbot is a British comics artist and writer, best known as the creator of The Adventures of Luther Arkwright and its sequel Heart of Empire, as well as the Grandville series of books. His work has won multiple awards, and in 2009 Talbot was given an Honorary Doctorate of Arts by University of Sunderland.

Mary and Bryan’s latest collaboration Rain, is a chronicle of the growing relationship of two young women, one an environmental activist, set against the backdrop of the disastrous 2015 floods in northern England.
