The 2020 Durham Book Festival Little Read is Greta and the Giants by Z Tucker and illustrated by Zoe Persico. In this special story-time event, author Zoë Tucker will read from her picture book, which inspires children to think that no-one is too small to make a difference.

Greta and the Giants retells the story of Nobel Peace Prize nominee Greta for very young children.

Greta is a little girl who lives in a beautiful forest threatened by Giants. When the Giants first came to the forest, they chopped down trees to make houses. Then they chopped down more trees and made even bigger homes. The houses grew into towns and the towns grew into cities, until now there is hardly any forest left. Greta knows she has to help the animals who live in the forest, but how? Luckily, Greta has an idea…

Durham Book Festival will distribute 1,700 free copies of Greta and the Giants throughout County Durham, including at least one copy to every primary school and nursery setting in the County. Find out more about the Little Read and Big Read 2020.

We also have an exciting drawing event with Greta’s illustrator Zoe Persico.

Suitable for ages 3+

This event is part of the Durham Book Festival 2020 Schools Programme, but open to all parents and children to enjoy.
