Janet Ellis MBE is an actor, presenter and author, best known for presenting Blue Peter. Following the huge success of her debut novel The Butcher’s Hook, Janet returns with How it Was, the story of Marion Deacon, a wife and mother, who is not particularly good at being either. It’s the 1970s and in her small village the Swinging 60s, the wave of feminism and the prospect of an exciting life, have all passed her by…

How it Was explores the tensions at the heart of mother-daughter relationships, the pressure women face to be perfect wives and mothers, and how life rarely turns out the way we imagine it will when we’re
young.

Ticket price includes a tea or coffee and a delicious slice of cake
