Booking Information

Unless stated otherwise, all tickets can be booked through the Gala Theatre box office. Tickets are divided into two price bands: full price and concessions.

Many festival events sell out very quickly so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

During the festival any remaining tickets can be purchased on the door at events.

Please note: If you are collecting tickets before the day of your event, they will be at the Gala Theatre box office. If you are collecting on the day, they will be on the door of your event venue.

Concessions information

For most events, discounted tickets are available to children under 16 or in full-time education, full-time students with a valid NUS card, people with disabilities (and their carers if applicable), persons aged 65 and over, and those out of work and in receipt of state benefits. Proof of status for all concessionary seats purchased must be produced when collecting tickets from the box office.

We try to make our festival accessible to everyone. If you have any particular requirements please inform our box office when booking tickets.

If you require a BSL interpreter, we will endeavour to provide this. Please inform the box office staff when booking your tickets. We will need two weeks’ advance notice.

Refunds and exchanges

The Durham Book Festival does not offer refunds. We can exchange tickets for another performance up to 24 hours before a show. There is a charge of £1 per ticket for this service, and original tickets must be returned to the box office at the Gala.

Latecomers policy

Latecomers will be admitted at the organisation’s discretion. It is the ticket-buyer’s responsibility to arrive on time for events and we do not offer refunds to those who miss an event.
