Volunteers are essential to the festival, and will have a number of roles: ticket-selling, ushering, dealing with enquiries from the public, assisting authors and publishers, set moving and cleaning. As a volunteer, you’ll be allowed free entry to all Durham Book Festival events (subject to available space), have the chance to meet some of the authors and get a a free t-shirt to keep! We’re looking for volunteers who can work a minimum of three shifts over the course of the festival. An induction meeting will be held on Tuesday 2nd October at Durham Town Hall at 7pm and all those selected to volunteer must attend. Apply here by Tuesday 18 September.
We’re also recruiting young people aged 15-23 to work behind the scenes as part of our Reviewers in Residence team. You will be writing, vlogging and podcasting throughout the festival for the official Durham Book Festival website while having access to festival events and getting the opportunity to interview some of our headliners! Applicants need to be based in the North of England and be available on Saturday 29 September, Tuesday 2 October and the duration of the festival itself (6-14 October). Apply here by 17 September.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you soon!
