Clayport Library

Durham Clayport Library is accessible for disabled visitors with public lifts, accessible toilets, and a loop system installed.

Durham Town Hall

Durham Town Hall has an accessible entrance. It is equipped with a lift, accessible toilets, and a fixed loop system.

Gala Theatre

Gala Theatre has lifts to all levels and accessible toilets located throughout. The Main Auditorium has wheelchair spaces available. If you will require a wheelchair space please advise the Box Office when booking. We ask that our wheelchair-using patrons attend with an able-bodied companion whose ticket is free of charge.

Guide Dogs are welcome in all parts of the theatre. An infrared amplification system is operated in the Main Auditorium and headsets for the hard of hearing are available at Box Office. For any more information please visit: galadurham.co.uk/visitus/access/

The Old Cinema Launderette

The Old Cinema Launderette is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets. Visitors with disabilities can pre-book a parking space on a side road adjacent to the venue by calling 0191 384 1412, although these are limited. Guide dogs, hearing dogs and support dogs are welcome.

Palace Green Library

All areas of Palace Green Library used by Durham Book Festival are fully accessible via platform lift. There is also access to reception, the gift shop and accessible toilets. A portable hearing loop is also available.

Visitor parking is not available on Palace Green, but exceptions may be made for disabled customers and those with limited mobility. Durham Cathedral Bus stops directly outside the entrance to Palace Green Library, running from the train and bus station. Redhills

Redhills is wheelchair accessible, although there is an uneven surface and steep incline from the entrance gate to the venue. There are accessible toilets, and blue badge parking to the front and rear of the venue. Guide and support dogs are welcome.

St Chad’s College Chapel

St Chad’s College Chapel is wheelchair accessible, and there are accessible toilets nearby. There is a single, on-street parking space for those with disabilities in front of the College, but this is unable to be reserved and only available on a first come first served basis. Due to students with severe allergies who live on site, guide dogs, hearing dogs and support dogs are unable to accompany visitors into St Chad’s grounds.
